Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea: Player Ratings

Szczesny – 7.5 Made some good saves and dealt well with the Chelsea counter attack by getting to the ball quickly.

Gibbs – 7 Kept Daniel Sturridge quiet for most of the afternoon and worked well going forward. Gibbs is much more defensively stable than Andre Santos.

Vermaelen – 8 No mistakes from Vermaelen, who showed why he really is one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League. Kept Torres quiet all afternoon.

Koscielny – 8 Worked well with Vermaelen and was unlucky that his header hit the bar in the first half.

Sagna – 6.5 Didn”t really deal with the pace/movement of Kalou as well as I would have expected. Kalou got in behind us a few times and caused some problems.

Song – 7.5 Slow to get into the game, but another solid performance which included lovely chipped ball to van Persie. Deserved to score!

Ramsey – 5 Needs to pay more attention to what is going on around him. Movement is good and the ideas are all there, but there are a few too many sloppy passes and he got caught in possession on several occasions. Aaron is better than that.

Rosicky – 7 Didn’t really stamp his authority on the game as much as we would expect, but I have since been made aware that he was suffering from illness earlier in the week.

Oxlade-Chamberlain – 5.5 Drifted inside to look for the ball when he would have been better on the wing and struggled to really push past Bosingwa.

Walcott – 6 Had a bit more luck than The Ox, but not much. Pulled up with a hamstring problem and will not feature again this season.

VanPersie – 7 RvP’s goal drought continues – he hasn’t scored in open play for 6 games. Just looks a little bit tired, but the ideas and creativity are still very much there. Took a few too many touches (as is the Arsenal way) when he had opportunities to shoot.

Subs:

Gervinho – 7.5 Good movement and some nice 1-2′s, but just couldn’t quite do enough to get us a goal.

Diaby – 7 Played a whole 10 minutes without any injury problems. Abou is going to be very important in the last few games of the season in the absence of Mikel Arteta.

Santos – 7.5 Came on on the left wing where he was able to play in an attacking role safe in the knowledge that Gibbs was defending behind him. Was very lively and comfortable on the ball like Gervinho.

Hard on Ramsey, 97% pass completion, worked his bollocks off, some great passes. Though did lose the ball a couple of times.

Walcott wasn’t better than Ramsey!! Other way round if anything on the ratings.

Ramsey needs to be loaned out. He is not good enough to play in the arsenal first team yet. He slows everything down. This game proved how much we miss Mikel Arteta. Arsenal didn’t play at the same tempo we are used to seeing. The only place for Jack Wilshere to play when he gets back is in the role that Rosicky is currently playing. He will not displace Song or Arteta.

Sorry I thought Walcott was pathetic with a capital P and frankly was a 1 – I also thought Song was very very poor and Sagna appeared to have a very poor attitude and was not at all happy with him.

Needless to say very disappointed because it was a Chelsea reserve team.

What a time to hit the buffers again – we just seem incapable of handling the smallest bit of pressure.
