Arsène Wenger has given a short injury update following our match against Newcastle in which he has said that Abou Diaby and André Santos could both be in contention to play next Wednesday against Everton.
Abou Diaby has so far been limited to only three substitute appearances this season because he seems to be consistently having further injury setbacks. He is currently recovering from a hamstring injury, but will no doubt pick up another ridiculous injury which will keep him out for either longer.
Andre Santos picked up an ankle injury agains Olympiacos in December and underwent ankle surgery in January. He was named among the substitutes against Newcastle bit did not make an appearance.
“Diaby is not far [away from full fitness]. Santos I think will play on Wednesday night in the Reserves against West Brom. He will need 90 minutes.
“Diaby should be back for Everton, he has a little chance. Jack [Wilshere] is less imminent.”
There doesn’t seem to be too much news on Jack Wilshere, but Wenger has previously suggested that he will not rush our talented midfielder back until he is sure that he is completely ready. Given the fantastic form of Tomas Rosicky, I think that it would be best to just let Jack heal at his own pace.
