Arsenal injury update: Koscielny, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Szczesny, Wilshere

Arsene Wenger has given another injury (adding to Thursday’s injury news) ahead of tomorrow afternoon’s game at Stoke.

Koscielny, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Szczesny

The good news is that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is back in the squad. The bad is is that Koscielny is definitely out and that Szczesny will probably face a late fitness test for a rib injury.

This Szczesny injury has almost come out of nowhere. On Thursday Wenger said that there were no new injuries, but then on Friday he reveals that Wojciech is injured. Hopefully Shezza will be fit enough to start, otherwise we could have a few problems. Lukas Fabianski is also facing a late fitness test, which means that we may have to rely on Mannone. This is, of course, a last resort.

“Koscielny is still out, Oxlade-Chamberlain is back and in training today and we have a slight problem with Szczesny (rib) but he should be alright.”

Jack Wilshere

Wenger then spoke about Jack Wilshere, who hasn’t played for Arsenal since the Emirates Cup last year. After more than 13 months on the sidelines, surely Jack is nearing a return? Wenger says that October is Jack’s month. That means that he will be missing for at least another 6 weeks.

“October will be an important month for Jack. I will promise you that I will be careful, but Jack works very hard.

“Every day he is in early, late going home, is focused and has built up a good basis for his body. After how quick he will be sharp again for competition, I don’t know. We will have to wait for at least a month to see that.”
