Arsène Wenger has given a full injury update ahead of the clubs pre-season tour of Asia next week. Abou Diaby is the only player from this list who has recovered from his injury and is included in the 24-man squad.
Wilshere, Rosicky and Frimpong are all due back within the first few months of the coming season. The good news is that Bacary Sagna could be back as early as the end of August, which means that we will only play one of two Premier League games without our experienced right-back.
Bacary Sagna
“He is doing very well. There are no problems there. But it will be the end of August for him.”
Abou Diaby
“He is fit, raring to go and will be on the tour. That is fantastic news for him and us.”
Jack Wilshere
“It is impossible to set a concrete deadline at the moment. But it is all OK. He is as quick as we expected him to be. His ankle is good and his knee is good. There is no set-back. It difficult to say ‘it will be this week in September or October’ when he is back in training. He has been out for a year and I don’t want to put any pressure on him.”
Tomas Rosicky
“It will be six to eight weeks until he is back in training. It was his [plantaris tendon], it was done at the Euros.”
Emmanuel Frimpong
“Emmanuel is doing very well. It will be the end of September or perhaps into October for him.”
The full 24-man squad list for the pre-season tour of Asia can be seen here. Robin van Persie has not been included.
