Arsenal vs AC Milan injury news: Diaby, Benayoun, Arteta, Gibbs, Rosicky

Arsène Wenger has given a full squad update ahead of tonight’s Champions League clash against AC Milan.

The Arsenal squad is looking pretty bare, so in my pre-match article I have suggested that Wenger may consider reverting to a more conventional 4-4-2 formation as we may be forced to field 4 or 5 “strikers”.

Apart from Alex Song, Tomas Rosicky is our only recognisable central midfielder who has even the vaguest chance of playing.

“We have paid a big cost because we have lost Benayoun (sickness), Diaby (hamstring) and Arteta (head). Arteta has no major problem but he has to rest for a week so he will be available against Newcastle but not Milan.”

“We have a few other knocks like Kieran Gibbs(groin and calf) and Rosicky (groin) is doubtful for Tuesday too. We will see. We will put out the best possible team for us to qualify.”

Other injuries include Coquelin (hamstring), Ramsey, Santos, Mertesacker & Wilshere (all ankle), Squillaci (groin), Djourou (thigh) & Frimpong (knee)

The Ox is more than capable of playing in central midfield, with Gervinho & Walcott on the wings I guess.

I know that Arsenal wish to win this game, but unfortunately you don’t always get what you want! Let’s be honest can we over turn the 4-0 hammering in Milan? The answer to that is definitely not especially against this ACM side and their current form. So, in my view Arsenal should not risk their best players and save them for the next game against New C.
