The team that will face Liverpool will be slightly different to the “normal” Arsenal starting XI in the Premier League.
With Djourou, Mertesacker and (probably) Vermaelen all injured it is likely that Wenger will have to play Ignasi Miquel partnering Laurent Koscielny. Arsène Wenger was clearly not very happy that Vermaelen played the full 90 minutes for Belgium in mid-week despite nursing an ankle injury.
In midfield, Alex Song and Tomas Rosicky both face late fitness tests, and Aaron Ramsey has already been ruled out. This means that Yossi Benayoun could be in line for a much-deserved start against his former club. Robin van Persie also faces a late fitness test, but Wenger seems to be pretty hopeful that he has recovered from a slight groin strain.
Liverpool 2-2 Arsenal Yes, we played well against Spurs, but now we are at Anfield and Liverpool will be on a high following their win in the Carling Cup. Neither team wants to lose, and I think it would be an important point against a team who are also fighting for 4th place.
