Arsenal.com have revealed the Arsenal starting XI and substitutes for the opening Champions League group match against Montpellier which kicks off in around 45 minutes.
With Wojciech Szczesny and Lukas Fabianski both sidelined, Vito Mannone makes his 3rd appearance of the season. James Shea (who has never made a first team appearance for Arsenal) is on the bench.
Interestingly, Laurent Koscielny still can’t make it into the team. In our pre-match post we suggested that Per Mertesacker may be rested ahead of Sunday’s game against Manchester City, but the BFG keeps his place alongside Vermaelen. Abou Diaby has been passed fit to play after an injury on international duty, but Theo Walcott misses out on a start yet again. Gervinho’s 2 goals against Southampton seem to have been enough to cement his place in the team, and Le Boss is frustrated that Theo hasn’t signed a new contract. Olivier Giroud starts against his former club.
Substitutes: Shea, Koscielny, Santos, Coquelin, Ramsey, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott.
