Arsenal.com have revealed the Arsenal starting XI and substitutes to face Reading in the Capital One Cup in just under half an hour.
Jack Wilshere and Bacary Sagna were not included in the squad; clearly Wenger felt that they were not up to playing so soon after they played in the Premier League against QPR. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also not included because he did not pass late fitness tests.
The team is pretty much expected except for one thing; Olivier Giroud is on the bench and Maroune Chamakh starts. Wrong decision Wenger! If you want Giroud to gain some confidence and find his feet then he needs to be starting matches like this.
It’s a pretty experienced side all things considered. Andrey Arshavin had a good cameo against QPR and deserves his start, while Serge Gnabry is the new up-and-coming prospect at the club. Hopefully the team will both do us proud tonight. We need a good performance ahead of United.
Substitutes: Shea, Meade, Squillaci, Bellerin, Yennaris, Eisfeld, Giroud.

20 minutes into play and it is 0:3 – ON YER BIKE,,,!
Why on earth would any side considerered capable of winning a match require Chamakh to be included. The Manager obviously feels that this team needs handicapping. As you rightly point out Giroud needs gametime and this should have been the ideal opportunity.More wrong choices in a Season where \”wrong choices\” have become the norm!
So much for our second string, shambles, its all down to venger,no strength in depth, same lame excuses year in year out,we will get licked by manure on sunday to,sick of it all.
4 goals down after 38 min. It can only happen with Arsenal sorry Arsene. If the senior team plays like this ,dont be surprised MU win by 10-0,yes ten nil. What ever happened to Bould?
Maybe the rift with Arsene is true and the Fm has decided to take sole charge of the defence. The red faced must be rubbing his hands at another three easy points.
Some fans don\’t want to waste time and are leaving the stadium. If there is another massacre at OT ,the fm better be off. Enough is enough. I can\’t see Arsenal challenging with him in charge. Let him go to Spain to play his pretty soccer.
Enough of this bollocks. Wenger is like a bust flush, the computer you want to get rid of but no one wants to take off your hands and it ends up in the skip. He is fucking history and a laughing stock and I fear that the only way this useless frog is going to leave this club is in a body bag and quite frankly THAT cannot happen soon enough. Wenger is fucking FINISHED
7:5 with Chamakh getting two. A great comeback and hats off for a show of great spirit.
This will serve to teach me to reserve judgement after the fact, although the first half was absolute rubbish.
So 7-5. Beware MU will be far more efficient and strong. The speed of the MU attack has to be watched. RVP and company shd not be given any time and space. As for Young and Valencia ,don ‘t or if possible allow them to cross.
The Big German shd not be exposed to a one on one.If that were the case, the gunners could be in serious trouble. The problem is the the speed of the gunners attack. It is a slow build up that gives opposing defenders time mass and foil the attack.
All teams can be stifled. The great Hungarian team of 1953 had pulverised the Germans 9-3. In the final they lost 3-2.If Bould ,assuming he is allowed to by the FM,can devise aplan to neutralise the speed of the red faced attack. Hopefully the gunners can beat the red faced 3-1.
