French side Rennes have stated that Yann M’Vila’s transfer situation will be sorted out by the beginning of next week, with the club sticking by their valuation of £15.7 million.
Speaking to Radio RMC, Rennes General Manager Pierre Dreossi said that he cannot rule out another move from Arsenal following the departure of Alex Song to Barcelona, but it does not look as if there has yet been a formal approach from Arsene Wenger. M’Vila does not want to go to Russia, meaning that there will now be a battle between Spurs and Arsenal for his signature:
“For the moment, there are three offers. There is no agreement. We enter negotiations this week and hope to find a solution.
“I think that it will be done by the end of this week or the beginning of next.
“It’s a complicated project with clubs who are not even internally agreed [Tottenham], and clubs that Yann does not want to go to [Zenit].
“There is even a percentage chance that Yann could stay at Rennes this year.
“Arsenal? Maybe, you’ll have to call Arsene [Wenger]. But when Song leaves, we must say that Arsenal will reinforce that post. Same thing for a club that sells to Arsenal.
“We maintain our price tag of around €20m [£15.7m].”
With Luka Modric on his way out, I would argue that Spurs need to be more focused on filling the gap left by their talented Croatian than worrying about defensive midfield. However, for Arsenal the M’Vila transfer would be perfect. Having been all but confirmed a few days ago, the transfer or Nuri Sahin has apparently now hit a small snag because Arsenal will not equal the wages of £120,000 a week that he receives at Real Madrid. M’Vila would be a permanent solution (not on a season-long loan) and would require lower wages.
If Arsenal do sign M’Vila then the loss of Song is pretty much negated. Song wasn’t a defensive mid anyway, so this probably works out to be slightly better. We know that Arsenal are in for another midfielder, so we must just wait and see who it is. That said, the transfer window is only open for another 10 days, so Wenger better be quick. Canal + are reporting that Arsenal will sign Sahin, M’Vila and Fernando Llorente, although I think that it is a bit ridiculous to think that Wenger would spend that kind of money in one week. It’s a nice suggestion though.

Speculative article.. Sahin doesn’t even receive 120k/week at Real. It is much lower than that.
I agree with the part that AVB knows DM is not his main concern… he do need to fill the Modric gap + a Striker. But who knows what AVB will do.
