Despite the anger that every Arsenal fan is probably feeling right now, there are still a few reasons to put a smile on our faces:
- Spurs got smashed 1-5 at home yesterday.
- We are through to the Champions League group stages. Surely the Udinese result was more significant than the Man Utd result. From a week ago, I would’ve taken qualification to the Champions League along with a defeat to Man Utd.
- The fact is that it is still just three points. Okay, we lost in a terribly embarrassing way, but we only missed out on three points. Further to that, we don’t often get many points off the Red Devils at Old Trafford.
- With Park Chu-Young and a few more set to sign, our squad will be stronger than it was yesterday. I just hope that Wenger works his socks off in the next few days to make sure they are the right players. Given that we’ve left it so late, Wenger won’t be buying any players from a well thought-out summer transfer plan. It is likely to be a case of buy-whoever-you-can. When you look at Liverpool and Man Utd, they both got most of their transfer dealings out of the way nice and early because a) the manager knew what he wanted and b) it has allowed the new players to settle down at their new clubs. We haven’t done that because Wenger hoped to keep Nasri and Fabregas. He should’ve accepted that they wanted out and prepared for life without them.
- I know everyone is using this as an excuse but the fact is that we did have quite a few players missing. Wilshere, Diaby, Vermaelen, Sagna, Gibbs, Song, Frimpong, Gervinho and Squillaci were all unavailable. You could argue that Wilshere, Vermaelen, Sagna, Song and Gervinho are five of our most important players. It isn’t a valid excuse for the manner in which we lost, but the fact that we have these players to return to our squad for the remaining 35 league games must be a source of optimism for both the fans and the manager.
- We don’t play for a fortnight. That means that we don’t have to witness the embarrassment of any footballing ineptitude on our part for at least two weeks. But more importantly, the players will have time to get over the defeat and perhaps a few players will return from injury. Then again, I bet at least one Gunner will get injured during the international break.
Before you comment saying that I’m disgustingly optimistic and I need a reality check, this is just a few thoughts to try and reduce the pain that all Arsenal fans are feeling. There is no doubt that yesterday’s result was and will continue to be one of the worst in any of our lives. But dwelling on it will not help. We need to move on, and hopefully a few impact signings will help to do that!

Stop the cheap consolation! We are in shit! Sign Hazard (30m), Park (14m), Jadson (10m), Lucho (7m), Cahill (17m), Scott Dann (8m) and Adam Johnson (14m). Total 100m. If we need to win 100m is reasonable
i will tell u man. arsene is not gonna sign any more good players. he m8 sign some stupid 19yr old. If he was in chelsea, they would ve sacked him 12 times in last 6 yrs. But he’s in arsenal where fans are used to defeats, droughts, injuries, poor signings, lame excuses, adamant nature and what not. and best of all all the arsenal fans still say “IN Arsene we Trust”. Goodbye guys, I ve worn arsenal T shirt for a long time and wore it proudly, wore it even in lthe last 6 years in hope. I can bear the pain anymore. Goodbye arsenal. I supported the INVINCIBLES. I will treasure those memories for long. Thank you Henry, Bergkamp, Pires, Vieira, Fabregas and all others for giving me those. Goodbye till u prove me wrong gunners.
So basically you’re a plastic fan that supports Arsenal when they do well (i.e the Invincibles) then deserts them when the going gets tough. So Goodbye to YOU. I’ve been a Gooner for 22 of my 26 years and have stuck with them no matter what and hate fans like you that our success under Wenger has brought us.
Thanks Man , this can do for the rest of the day. I thought Man U got more than 3 points , considering the noise coming from their fans
Agree with Charles. We need an overhall not just 2 or 3. Will take alex in place of scott dann if we have to. Also I would like A Ray wilkins next to AW and no more Pat Rice Grandad shit.
Well said – Pat Rice is responsible for defensive coaching – an area we have been incompetent in for years now. Time to bring in someone to organise our defenders & give them some basic tuition.
Take out the money thing for just a moment and ponder this……….Arshavin WAS immense! now he’s a lazy shit. Arshavin could shoot now he cant make a pass (newcastle match/ walcott in on goal) .
Why is that Arshavin isnt doing what Ashley Young did TWICE yesterday?? I honestly dont know but it aint money its something to do with training!! We dont do any on; Shooting, Defending, taking corners, defending corners, taking free kicks, defending free kicks, long throw ins, Not getting red cards, etc. What do we do ? I honestly have no idea and THAT goes deeper than the money thing. Arshavin = case in point.
Wenger is a great coach but he should stop all this philosophy of youngsters and sign players,us arsenal supporters have no breathing space.C’mon wenger sign players, you cant win without investing, sign Alex,Cahill,Kaka,Samba.have a bench power.
They wont sign anybody. Arsenal is doomed
Exactly u ar right Wenger will not sign any player,Fans it is time to start ignoring games,& stop buying Arsenal jersey until Wenger & his board member do the right thing, replace the sold players, add more powers to the reserve bench finally change your phylosophy of buying youth players without exprience, not strong & lack of qualities. We fans are not dummmmmmb & we will let u Wenger & your boards no that we ar useful & part of this club progress.
Utd were awesome,we created a shit load of chances, had a thousand players missing, its the right part of the season to be in a slump,we do have cash to spend,if not much time, but we get NO real support from our SUPPOSED fans who outnumber the real fans about 10 to 1.
I was being very positive,until I remembered you 90%.
Sorry but these 6 reasons just didnt cut it for me. If we had lost 2-1 then yes your article would have kept everything in perspective…. But 8 goals!!! School boy stuff from Arsenal at the moment. A historic humiliation that has obliterated the already mentally fragile team.
what a useless articlale, can’t believe i wasted 1 min of my life reading this utter shite, i don’t care if spurs lost 5-1 we were weak and have to squad to speak of. this is all of wengers doing he has to go!!!
You say its ‘just 3 points’ but its a much BIGGER problem than you realise. We were aweful at the end of last season, we were aweful during preseason & emirates cup, we lost against liverpool, we couldnt beat newcastle…. The list goes on. Its not JUST 3 points!
At least we had our bad patch now, not at the end of the season!
I had to live quite a few moments like this in this year: defeat in the Carling cup, in a very horrible way, a 4-0 lead lost to Toon, defeat at Camp Nou after a win and 1-1 before Persie was off, 3 consecutive red cards, defeat to Liverpool at home, 3 wins in 12 games and now this: 8-2 at Old Trafford. Arsenal are a disgrace at the moment and it’s down to the players, the board and the stubborn Wenger, who had to fix obvious cracks over the summer, and he hasn’t. Give him until January, and if we are not in Top 6, qualified from CL group and out of the cups then out!
Hmm! We nid 2 buy big nd strong players.
I think this writter as a form of connection with Arsenal fc,is this another way to console the fans after the horrible defeat yesterday,we have heard a million times Hazard due in London in 48hours or Cahill having meeting with arsenal representative and due to sign in the next 24hours.please we have had enough
I understand you trying to cheer us up but this is wengers fault.unfortunately it’s too late to sack him now give him until December .he has to buy…….please wenger get your head out of your arse and buy ………
danke mann u made my day trust me i watched park chu youngs clips and i see he will be of help . If lille needs campbell then they should also give us hazard
LONG LIVE ARSENAL
never said this before but I say sack the boss, not always the answeri know but if he does have money to spend especially after the clichy, fabregas and nasri deals then he deserves to be gown the door cos tbh on the silverware front he’s bringing us down, always admired he man but maybe he jobs just to big for him now? I think even with gerv, gibbsy, verm, sagna and jacky in the team we’d ave still lost, just wouldn’t ave been a hiding that’s all, reinforcements needed NOW! not in jam or summer next year.
Well Said my friend. I support you fully and I hope we can just get our midfield working better. Defensively I believe we lost the plot when Arsene informed Sagna and Vermaelen are not there. The fact we even saw Walcott and Jenkinson quarreling was an indication that they were running ragged.
But if we can replicate what we did at Udinese, we are moving one step closer for the midfield unit to become cohesive. I just feel, Ramsey has to become a second half substitute. He and Rosicky only have stamina to last 30 -45 minutes on the pitch. Full 90 minutes is right now not their cup of tea.
The same for Arshavin, he cannot play for more than 45 mins, so essentially we are relying on substitutes with no first team players
I think we should add someone like Bellamy to our ranks on top of the others mentioned. Also I was disgusted with the way jenkinson spoke to Theo. He got back and did his job for him and when being a senior player advised him of his duties he got aload of mouth from him. Hope we add quality and guts to our team. Passion required!!!!!
About jenkinson dis is not his fault bt wengers faut b,cos players like jek is surpose to be playn for asenal academy bt in our 1st squard.
Your words are real, we can dwell on the past so therefore lets hope that by thursday morning we will all be smiling
To ease the finances…
Out:
Traore
Almunia
Arshavin
Chamakh (keep Bendtner)
Campbell (on loan – back next year)
Squillaci
Kosh (on loan for the moment)
Song
In:
Cahill
Baines
Alex
Lucho Gonzales
Hazard
M’vila
Park
Bent
Adam Johnson
No way we dispose of Song, he is very influential in the middle, he lacks the quality final pass and I think lately he has been becoming big headed, but he is so vital in the middle of the light weight midfield players. Neither would I ship out Koscielny, he has some good quality about him, he gets exposed when he playing together with a weak partner, but he does so well with Vermaeelen. I wouldnt shed a tear for the rest if they were to move whether temporarily or permanently
little wonder they sold the club to a wuss, who postrated on his face begging plus agreeing to whatever condition(certainly twisted at that) he was given. imagine STAN lending some money 4rm his wife to buy the club… gorery! IF WENGER HAD USMANOV’S MONEY……., BET fergie’ll be questioning the refs. decision about RVP+CAVANI’S GOALS!
Shut up with the cheap consolation. Get real and pray for some signings instead. Perhaps even god might help when he see our pathetic state. 1.) We lost by more than Spurs. 2.) We will be out of the Champions League in 6 games if this keeps up, and might not even make the Europa League next season. 3.) On paper this may just be 3 points, morally it could sap our team and cost us many more points over the next few weeks or months. 4.) Park is just a back-up, and the other signings are nowhere near being confirmed. All just blank talk without sources. Not like anyone wants to come to a team that loses 8-2. 5.) Wenger knew we had players missing and failed to buy in time for important games against Liverpool and now Manchester United. I am not sure if we’ll even get any additional depth in the squad by time Swansea comes around. 6.) International break? Oh, do you mean injuries to RVP and Vermaelen?
Sick n tired of wenger philosophy.sack him or we go 2 lower division.today cahill tomorrow alex next day dann!stop fuckng our brain
Wenger is a fool, and pls don’t post dat insult again advice dat man to buy player it too early and yur out of the league comtender. I pray we qualify 4 uefa nxt season because with what am seeing wenger wouldn’t buy anybody.
If wenger refuse 2 sign experince players, arsenal will finished in 18 in d table.
New line up:
Sagna – TV – Cahill – Baines
Subs: Jenkinson, Alex, Miquel, Gibbs
Walcott – Wilshere – M’vila – Hazard
Subs: Miyaichi, AOC, Luch Gonzalez, Frimpong, Johnson, Rosicki
RVP – Bent
Subs: Park, Afobe, Bendtner (Walcott can play there too)
It has been omitted from the comment ,there is one more reason Arsenal fans to be happy is that their club and manager raised nearly 100m by selling their best players for the directors and shareholders to share .
Bring back David Dein as soon as posssible , AW is very good as a manager and coach but horrible spending more than 10mn when buying players . He failed to replace players when their best players left .
Another reason arsenal fans to be happy they are in the record book .
If you want to moan all your life, nobody is stopping you but quit insulting those who ve chosen to be positive about the club they support. Atleast, there re fans who need articles like this. Most of you calling Arsene wenger stupid, fool, etc, re worst failures is life but like the manager says he expects such from morons like you. Win or lose,a gunner for life.
To all those who want Wenger out:
Seriously, who would replace him?
Rather, we should keep him but not let him be in charge of the finances.
Sorry bro this blog is a load of bull, the same sort of bull that has been coming out of the board room. injured players? United have injured players and still have the likes off gigs and Hernandez in the bench, not to mention berby didn’t even get a look in yesterday, we have a small weak squad, a greedy board that don’t reinvest and haven’t in years, Wengers 4-5-1 doesn’t work and I feel sorry for the players been thrown out to get slaughtered last nite, Wenger needs to change his ways or ship out
Just trying to be positive, mate. Read my post yesterday, I didn’t deny that we have a weak squad and that we played awfully.
wenger u have to sign good and strong player and not otherwise
@ocd p.s where’s gervinho in ur line up? tk note we shall rise again & very soon……….watch out!
in arsene I no longer trust
It’s being obvious that the manager and the board of director need the saying “you ‘ve yet not learn a lesson”,it seems it’s a speculation but when it has happened to Arsenal now,we ‘re now looking for solution.it’s quite sometimes that the ‘so-called’ Wenger have been scouting player prizing with a paltry fee,but people that need trophy will hijjack the player still no signing, the like of Ashley Young,Mata,Alvarez,Saurez and so on,Wenger scouted all but different club signed them all,now we are optimistic to the player we ‘ve not see. Sign! Sign!! Sign!!! So that your club will not end up like Liverpool struggling for Europa League.
you are making mockery of arsenal fan worldwide. nobody fault wenger should keep the check book next time i see the fans going amok in north London.
Injured players are no excuse we should sort the issue of non footballers that wenger called footballers, players like traore, gibbs, arshavin, ramsey, chamakh squillaci ,etc.
When Fabregas broke into the first team he had the likes of TT,Viera,Gilberto,Bergkamp to say the view as an experience players i̶̲̥̅n the midfield..I wonder what our little boys Fripomg,Lansbury,,Conqluien e.t.c have now to fight for the title except” Ashashit and Roshity” i̶̲̥̅n the experience depleted midfield..
Wenger should put his philosophies and believes off and sign players that are needed i̶̲̥̅n the squad to retain the good ones we have now..This season we have our two creative midfielders leaving ,who knows what to come of RVP,Verminator,Song,Sagna and Wilshere next season…
Finally, the board should stop using the club as the training ground for young blood knowing fully well they will be sold once they are matured and Wenger should do something to get us back on the track cos I still trust i̶̲̥̅n him against all odds…
Even wen u buy d whole world, fact is Wenger is a FOOOOOOLLLLL… who can nolonger mek any positive achievements but onli Negatives. By d way, weather 3 or 1 point, its onli goals and points dat win a trophy. Man-U fans have all right in dis world 2 mek noise. Wenger…,,,, uselesssssss.
We only lost 3 players and everyone is talking about a landslide of players (which will never happen) we just need a CB (or two), a CM, a (proper) Winger and maybe a ST
CAHILL + SAMBA
MARTIN
HAZARD
chu YOUNG
A club which are depend on one or two player is not a real club, Wenger has made a squad which has always problem and this is not first time and i am sure it is not last time either. every club has injury problem but the must of them has back up and good one. you say Wenger hoped Fabergas and Nasri stay, everyone knew both of them will go, you can not fool me and say Wenger did`nt, the problem with Fabergas was his praice and Nasri the same. the Arsenal board think about money and money only and Wenger helpe them to make that money, they do`nt care about trophy only buy young player make them toprofessional and sell them, that`s why we will never win any trophy, and it started when they throw out all the legend , and in more than 6 years we still pay for that.
You say that wonger didnt buy cause he thought he will keep fabergas and nasri in ! e@eryone knows that the pare werent our problems he could of signed defenders no matter if nasri and cesc stay or go ..now we sold 3 defenders and have to rely in sculaci and ball watching djurue ..
Djourou is not a defender, he has his hands at the back when goind to put in a tackle, how can one play and hustle like that? shocker ! look at the goals for both the Man U and Liverpool games you will see how much Djourou and Traore should not be anywhere near the first team
more beating is still to come if arsene doent do anything positive in signing x-perienced players,I dont see arsenal escaping the same dose of humiliation from man.city.This is our season of giving not only players but points and goals too, pfffffff!!! sounds ridiculous.
lol, I love how positive this article is…Only such articles could keep us Arsenal fans smiling..Trust me
Spurs lost 1-5, yeah right. But that scoreline is certainly not as bad as Arsenal’s 8-2.
Not As Bad, U bet! 8-2 in history of Arsenal! Ever see a top club getting hit this bad. There’s more to come for Arsenal, This season and the next few we will not see Arsenal getting any trophies at all. I thought ever since we move to the Emirates Stadium and also the housing properties we should be better but even worst. Stingy Arsenal board and our ever trustworthy Manager keep on investing and paying more for young talent players instead of Buying WORLD CLASS PLAYERS!
This 8-2 Thrashing is a TELL SIGN for bad things to come, this game should serve as a WAKEUP CALL to Arsenal, GET SERIOUS just by looking at the players we are buying, simple as that. Its not that we do not want young talented players, we do there are so many of them but we need a few world class players who can blend in and create consistent performances throughout the whole season.
Get over it. All of u muppets are doing my head in. Big up the supporters who don’t gove up on the team and constantly slate them. Seriously if I was a player and being slated this bad for long periods of time my head would drop too. I wouldn’t want to play for a team when I was slagged off all the time and furthermore I’d probably knock you the fuck out. Now get behind the team and support them or fuck off. If you are a true supporter this will not offend!!!!!
The fact of the matter is that we have not won anything since we’ve left highbury back in 2006. Look at our away record for last season and you’ll see that there was no problem with the squad back then. It was out Home record that let us down(It’s not the fortress many would have hoped for)
Now i do admit that we need to replace Fab and Nasri if we are to challenge for the title, but please stop saying that wenger has made mistakes the past six years, because where i can see, it’s only this season the mistakes are being made by not replaceing fab and nasri!!
the team you mention on the article only works for a fifht or sixth place on the league which is not a relief at all
wenger to sign park hazard garrycahill and to complete with arteta.if not nothing will happened good and all total to 60.6million pounds
Stop blaming pat rice 4 arsenal defensive woe.all d blames should go 2 arsene wenger bcos he buys stupid defenders like squillaci,silvester,eboue.etc.so are u expecting pat rice 2 bring out d best in stupid defenders.remember he was in arsenal when our defence was good
Wow, so many back seat managers. Has anyone noticed how the future will shape up for Arsenal when compared to Man United ? What if the Sheikh dies and his family sells Man City ? What if Arsenal spent like Man United and Man City and Chelsea ? For now City and Chelsea are being backed by oil money. Man United does not have oil money and are in debt of over one BILLION DOLLARS. Arsenal on the other hand have lots of youngsters and a very manageable debt. Look at Barcelona, who have a great youth system but still are in debt beyond their ability to pay their players. They have spent millions on players that did not work out and have left but they still have an enormous debt left to pay. Can anyone say Zlatan Ibrahimovich ? Fabregas may rue the day he decided to take a pay cut to play for his boyhood club. Nasri will laugh all the way to the bank until he ends up like Adebayor. You don’t think that he will end up like Adebayor, well just ask Adebayor how he feels today. Very well off until his contract is up with Man City. Anyone remember Louis Saha and his move to Everton. He did not look happy with his paycut. All this to say that an loss of such an embarrassing amount is hard on the heart. However, when someone wants out and they are very important to the team, then what can you do to keep them ? Wenger tried but to no avail. We lost the Champions League to Barcelona last year because of the pressure placed on Fabregas by Barcelona’s players. Fabregas was a shadow of himself in that game. The last game that Nasri ( i for one am happy that he left) played for us, you can see that he was not pushing the limits. As for United, I can see problems in the near future for them. I have looked in the crystal ball and seen Rio, Vidic et all being very unhappy when they lose their positions to the youngsters and United do have some very very good youngsters.
I was very disappointed yesterday when Miyachi was not included in the lineup. I think that it is time that Arshavin is shifted to midfielder and Miyachi is put in the lineup. The sale of Traore is a good thing. He looked out of place yesterday. I wonder if Sagna called in sick because he was sick of the left side. As for my crystal ball, it sees an improving Arsenal team that will return to the Champions League next year. 3rd or 4th place finish. For the many of you who are critical of Wenger, please put in you application to Arsenal FC ASAP!!! Lets see how you manage to do when you are actually in the hot seat. Yes, your painfull comments will probably get Wenger fired.
its been only 3games so far lets see what happens next , transfer season is going on so will definitely come back , Arsenal will be in Champions League like forever !!
