Transfer Update: Karim Benzema

A Gooner?

The French striker has had an impressive season at Madrid, largely thanks to Higuain’s injury. He has netted 26 goals in 48 games, which has prompted the media to suggest that he may leave. Wenger has been quoted to say:

“Signing him does not seem impossible. He’s a player that I like. He’s intelligent in his movement; he is capable of combining well with others and making a difference, and of doing individual moves as well.”

He is likely to be priced at £20-30 million, which may put our manager off a potential bid. Then again, Wenger has stated his desire to bring big players to the club, in what he has declared as his most important transfer window at Arsenal.

With Real trying to sign Adebayor on a permanent deal, they will have plenty of attacking options, which may encourage Benzema, who will be searching for regular first-team opportunities, to consider his future. Furthermore, Real are unlikely to want to have too many high-wage players in their squad, so they may look to offload potential fringe players, such as Benzema.

No chance

However, Benzema has been quoted in Marca as stating his desire to stay at the Spanish club.

“I do not think that Real Madrid are thinking about selling me this summer. Mourinho has faith in me and wants to stick with me.”

Such comments will dent Wenger’s confidence about signing the 23 year old. With Bendtner and Arshavin set to leave the club, our boss would probably have liked to obtain the signature of a top striker, to partner the ever-increasingly influential Robin van Persie.

In addition, Wenger is unlikely to splash the cash on Benzema when other, more reasonably-priced options, are available. Straight Talking Gooners don’t believe that this transfer will materialise.

I know what your saying guys but as we all know what the player wants is normally at the bottom of the list. Mourinho has wanted to bum adebayour for years (Remember him chasing Manu when he was at chelski) and will be desperate to keep him even if it means loosing Benzema. Arsene’s no fool and knows an early big name signing may help to keep Nasri and Cesc. Certainly rather him than Gervinhio, or falcao

If it were up to me I`d take Falcao over Benzema, at around 20/25 million that`s a fair price and leaves plenty in the kitty. Depending on movement we can then consentrate on defence.

Wenger should better go for falcao over benzema, the colombian has been consistent all through even with his fomer club river plate plus hes good in aerial balls and has pace,he also has played in the 4-2-3-1 at river plate but not as a fronman which is good. Then wenger should bring in ricky alvarez,as another addition.

the media maybe said he is worth 20-25M, but looking at his contract he only worth 7-14M only. he have 1 or 2 years left in his 35M/7years contract. So Arsenal so make enquiry about him for that price. Also with Madrid getting Augero and Adebarn, Madrid Have to sell some of the Striker.

Anyone wonder how Spur get Van Der Vaart for only 8M?? it all in the contract.

It is a big shame to the big gunners, for the past 6seasons they have brought back home nothing. What is happening?Benzema or Falcao,i think Karim is the most experienced and what Arsenal needs now is experienced players. This is no time for upbringing we are loosing fans.
