Benik Afobe came off the bench to score a debut hattrick as Bolton won 3-1 against Tranmere in their last pre-season friendly. Afobe scored three goals in 16-minutes, having replaced Marvin Sordell at half time. The 19-year-old only joined Bolton on Friday following the successful loan-spells of Jack Wilshere and Ryo Miyaichi, but seems to have got his loan-spell off to a pretty good start.
Granted, there is a bit of a difference between Tranmere and the class of opposition that he will face in the Premier League, but take nothing away from another fantastic performance that completes a pretty strong pre-season.
According to Bolton’s official club website, Afobe’s goals were ”classy finishes; an instinctive first-time effort, a powerful header and a clinical low shot from the edge of the area.” There is also a quote from Owen Coyle, who was very quick to praise Bolton’s new signing:
”Benik showed that not only is he lightning quick, but that he has great skill and has an eye for goal.”
The only place that I can find video of all three goals is on the club website, but that requires you to subscribe to Bolton FC online club. However, there is a video posted by a fan who was sitting behind the goal when Afobe scored the second goal – a header from a free kick.

OBI ONE AFOBE!!!!
